Diploma & Certificate Programs

Bible Diploma

Awarded to a student who completes the required course of study.  Eighteen semester courses (216 clock hours) are required.

Starting in the fall of 2018, the requirements for the Bible Diploma are being changed so that the student may include elective classes. The Bible Diploma will still require completion of eighteen courses, but only twelve of the eighteen required courses (listed below) must be taken. Each student may substitute up to six electives qualifying for the Old or New Testament diploma programs to meet the remaining requirements.

  • Old Testament Survey 2 (OT 102)
  • Pentateuch: Genesis-Deuteronomy (OT 110)
  • Historical Books: Joshua-Esther (OT 120)
  • Poetical Books: Job-Song of Solomon (OT 130)
  • Major Prophets: Isaiah-Daniel (OT 140)
  • Minor Prophets: Hosea-Malachi (OT 150)
  • New Testament Survey 1 (NT 101)
  • New Testament Survey 2 (NT 102)
  • The Life of Christ: Matthew-Luke (NT 110)
  • The Book of Acts (NT 120)
  • Paul’s Longer Epistles: Romans-2 Corinthians (NT 130)
  • Paul’s Shorter Epistles: Galatians-Philemon (NT 140)
  • The Epistle to the Hebrews (NT 180)
  • General Epistles: James-Jude (NT 150)
  • John’s Writings: The Gospel & Epistles (NT 160)
  • Revelation (NT 170) OR Bible Prophecy Overview (BT 100) OR Bible Prophecy 1 (BT 101) OR Bible Prophecy 2 (BT 102)

Students embarking on this diploma program before Fall 2009 are not required to take Bible Study Methods.

 

Advanced Bible Diploma in Old Testament

Awarded to a student who completes the Diploma in Bible and six additional courses elected from among alternatives specified in the catalog (72 additional clock hours), such as

  • Old Testament Book Studies
  • Old Testament Character Studies
  • Archeology of the Old Testament
  • Bible Geography (may be applied to only one of the Advanced Bible Diplomas)

 

Advanced Bible Diploma in New Testament

Awarded to a student who completes the Diploma in Bible and six additional courses elected from among alternatives specified in the catalog (72 additional clock hours), such as

  • New Testament Book Studies (excluding Acts, Hebrews, Revelation)
  • New Testament Character Studies
  • Sermon on the Mount
  • Parables of Jesus
  • Archeology of the New Testament
  • Bible Geography (may be applied to only one of the Advanced Bible Diplomas)

 

Christian Worker’s Diploma

Awarded to a student who completes the Diploma in Bible and six additional required courses (72 additional clock hours).

A change to the Christian Worker’s Diploma requirements is being made, effective Fall Semester 2018. The course “Confidence in Public Speaking” is being replaced by “How to Prepare Sermons” (for men) or “How to Prepare Bible Lessons” (for women). Students who have already taken “Public Speaking” will not be affected by this change.

Students embarking on this diploma program between Fall 1998 and Spring 2009 must also take Bible Study Methods.

 

Christian Living Diploma

Awarded to a student who completes the Diploma in Bible and six additional elective courses chosen from among alternatives specified in the catalog (72 additional clock hours). Courses may be selected from the following categories:

  • Bible Enrichment (BE) – one required
  • Church History (CH) – one required
  • Christian Living (CL) – one required
  • Christian Work (CW) – one required (excludes courses required for the Christian Worker’s Diploma)
  • Christian Education (ED)
  • Music (MU)
  • Women’s Studies (WS)

 

Sign Language Certificate

Awarded by the Deaf Division to a student who completes the six courses–each 2 class hours–required (144 clock hours) or their equivalents.

  • Beginning Basic Sign Language (SL 110)
  • Continuing Basic Sign Language (SL 120)
  • Conversational Sign Language 1 (SL 131)
  • Conversational Sign Language 2 (SL 132)
  • Religious Signing 1 (SL 141)
  • Religious Signing 2 (SL 142)

 

Biblical Greek Certificate

Awarded to a student who completes twelve or more course credits (144 clock hours) in Biblical Greek or their equivalents.

 

Biblical Hebrew Certificate

Awarded to a student who completes twelve or more course credits (144 clock hours) in Biblical Hebrew or their equivalents.
